Adventism is Clearly Not Christian

Hello again!

If there was one thing that hit me in the face like a Theological 2 by 4 when I was studying my way out of Seventh-Day Adventism it was cognitive dissonance. In other words, the antagonism between the Word of God read without Ellen G. White’s help and in proper context, and what Adventists taught about the Word of God.

Here’s a very good way of putting cognitive dissonance that addresses exactly what we’re talking about!

Cognitive Dissonance

Why was this difference there? If Adventism was compatible with scripture then why was scripture read clearly ALWAYS firmly against Adventism?

Simply stated core beliefs in Adventism cannot be backed up by a proper reading and understanding of scripture.

The difference is there because Adventism teaches Bible study using Eisegesis instead of Exegesis!

Proper Bible Study

Here’s another great image to clarify Eisegesis vs. Exegesis:

exegete1

For example a Seventh-Day Adventist, using eisegesis, will read the keeping of the Sabbath Day into Genesis 2:

By the seventh day God completed His work that He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work that He had done. God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, for on it He rested from His work of creation.

Using proper exegesis we discover, the word for Sabbath here is NOT an action/verb but a noun. Also you don’t have to look very carefully to note that these 2 verses are about GOD and what he has done or is doing.

BY the 7th day GOD has completed His work.

SO GOD rested on the 7th Day, from all the work that HE had done.

GOD blessed the 7th Day, and declared it holy, for HE rested from HIS work of creation.

There is absolutely nothing about what Adam and Eve are doing. There is nothing about them keeping a Sabbath or even actually resting in these verses.

Yet Adventists, using eisegesis, see the word Sabbath and then READ INTO the passage the 7th Day Sabbath given to ISRAEL in the Law hundreds of years later! Adventists are placing on themselves a restriction, punishable by stoning to death if the Sabbath is not kept, that was only given to the Nation of Israel to separate the Nation of Israel from ALL OTHER nations!

This is scripture twisting, incorrect bible study, eisegesis instead of exegesis which will always lead to false teaching and the certainty of cognitive dissonance, when one is spiritually reborn.

That’s more than enough of a reason to write this post, but I actually wrote it to point out a huge difference between false religions/new religious movements/cults and sects and true Christianity.

Hence why I state in the article title, Adventism is clearly NOT Christian.

And this small passage breakdown is just one of a vast multitude to look at.

Christianity: A Whole New Outlook

I was doing a morning study in 2nd Corinthians 4:1-3 just yesterday and boy did these words hit me hard, in a good way!

Therefore, since we have this ministry because we were shown mercy, we do not give up. Instead, we have renounced shameful secret things, not walking in deceit or distorting God’s message, but commending ourselves to every person’s conscience in God’s sight by an open display of the truth.

Since we have been saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus and His death burial and resurrection on the cross, and shown God’s mercy. We never give up.

We renounce, put behind us with vigor, really really deny, shameful secret things.

Not walking in deceit.

Not distorting God’s message.

Preaching in the confidence of being right and clear in our message, with a clear conscience to everyone! Open to the sight of God, being truthful and open about His word!

This passage brings great hope, we are new creations in Christ Jesus! Yes we used to be deceitful, dishonest scripture twisters. We used to distort and twist God’s message by using eisegesis, reading our pet beliefs into scripture!

Yet now we dig out of the truths of scripture using proper exegesis, which always leads to proper Biblical understanding.

Please Understand

In the process of spiritual awakening out of any false religion, and beginning to use exegesis as a Bible study method you will, beyond any doubt, face cognitive dissonance. All I can say is to pray to God before and during and after each study, this will guarantee that you will find the truth and the truth will set you free!
